  Paid 800 Service
 

Paid 800 service to various countries allows calls to domestic toll-free telephone numbers, giving 24-hour access to a variety of services such as banking, credit card information, hotel reservations, airline offices and ordering a wide range of goods and services.

Thuraya customers can use Paid 800 service to call toll-free numbers in North America, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and Jordan from anywhere across Thuraya's footprint.

A customer needs to dial the international access code (00) followed by the country code and the toll-free number. Calls will be charged at the prevailing Thuraya IDD call rates.

  Wap Service
 

Thuraya offers the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) feature in its mobile satellite phone. 

WAP:

WAP is an open global standard for communication between a mobile handset and Internet or other computer application. WAP-based technology enables the design of advanced, interactive and real-time mobile services, such as mobile banking or Internet based news services, which can be used in digital mobile phones or other mobile devices. The WAP specification enables solutions from various equipment suppliers to work consistently for end-users on the digital networks.

WAP has very similar capabilities to the web, but it adds in one very important feature: optimization for low-bandwidth, low-memory, and low-display capability environments. These types of environments include wireless phones, pagers, PDAs, and virtually any other communications device.

  e-Wallet Services
 

Thuraya offers the 'e-Wallet' services- a mechanism to refill Thuraya Prepaid accounts.

Currently prepaid account can be refilled through IVR, SMS and through online services. With e-Wallet services, a Thuraya prepaid customer who requires some money to be transferred to his account can approach any service provider, pay him the amount and ask for the transfer.

However, only the service providers who are authorized by Thuraya can transfer the money to the subscriber's account.

  Password Acquisition Services
 

In line with Thuraya's continuous efforts to enhance its services and offer greater security to Thuraya users, Thuraya offers a new service for obtaining a personal identification code, which enables Thuraya prepaid/postpaid subscribers to acquire information over the web (services.thuraya.com).

The password can be obtained by sending a message (even a blank message) to 1522. In reply to the message, the system shall respond with the password. The subscriber can use this password to access the Web Billing Inquiry and other Value Added Services. The subscriber will be charged for only the message itself.

  GPS Service
 

Thuraya offers "GPS distance and direction display" as a standard feature in its mobile phone. This extremely resourceful feature makes Thuraya's GPS function similar to any commercial GPS receiver.

The "GPS distance and direction display" feature on Thuraya's "Man Machine Interface (MMI)" extends the GPS functionality to support the calculation of distance and direction between two points.

When a user determines the present location using the existing MMI commands, the menu option will be available to allow a distance and direction to be calculated. Once you initiate this menu command, the results will prompt you to select a stored benchmark location from memory. After the selection is done, the phone calculates the distance and direction from the current point to the stored point, displaying the results of distance and directions to the user.

  Prayer Time Service
 

Thuraya's new value added service is the "Prayer Time" information. The service, which is available through the Thuraya phone provides you with Islamic "Prayer Timings" and the direction of the Kaaba using the GPS coordinates.

Thuraya's "Prayer Time" service data is provided by "Harf Information Technology"- an international Islamic organization known for its extensive online data and Islamic library.

To obtain the Prayer Time service using the Thuraya Phone, Sunni Muslims need to send an SMS to 1400 while Shia Muslims need to send an SMS to 1411.

One of Thuraya's value added services include the Short Messaging Service. Thuraya offers SMS (Short Message Service) in its handheld phones in English, Italian, French and German. Thuraya's SMS feature in its satellite mobile handset conveniences quick and easy communication. 

A variety of services now available through SMS are applicable for everyday usage. Basic m-commerce applications, corporate, sports, financial, news or weather based information over SMS is widely used.

Interesting applications include participation in auctions or advertise via SMS. In addition, mobile e-mail in regions where Internet penetration is limited, is boosting the continued growth of SMS.

With Thuraya's convenient mobile Email service, you can communicate with people anytime you want to without bothering about modem connections. Thuraya phone enable users to send an Email from their satellite phones to any Email address without an Internet connection or subscription. You can even send the Email via Thuraya phone while you are outdoors or while traveling in a vehicle. And what's more....there is no activation required too.

The process is simple too. Sending an Email from the Thuraya phone is like sending an SMS with the exception that the format used will be "Email".

 
Direct Dial Up Access to Internet
 

With Thuraya's 'direct dial up' access to the Internet in its dual mode handset, Thuraya subscribers can browse the Internet anytime and anywhere in the coverage area.The "direct dial up' access to the Internet is offered to Thuraya subscribers with no additional Internet subscription.

The service does not require 'logging-on', nor does it ask for a user name and password. However, Thuraya post-paid subscribers need prior activation of the data service in order to connect to the Internet.

Thuraya's subscriber's can place Internet calls by connecting the phone to a PC or laptop using a Thuraya data cable. All standard Internet services such as web browsing and email services are possible using this facility. Features such as multi-link PPP are also possible using multiple Thuraya Terminals, which significantly boost data performance.

The service is available for both post-paid and prepaid as well as for GSM subscribers roaming onto Thuraya's network.

 
Thuraya Maritime Services
 

Thuraya offers its mobile satellite services to the Maritime Industry.

Thuraya's products represent a great value to maritime in need of integrated voice and data services offering an ideal solution for pleasure boaters, fishermen and commercial fleet.

Thuraya's Maritime service will cover a wide range of services including voice, data, fax, internet, e-mail and access to company's intranet local network as well connectivity to support information, weather update, e-commerce data and images.

The Thuraya Maritime services will be offered in passenger and cargo ships, yachts and tankers in Thuraya's coverage area.

In addition, Thuraya's maritime rates will be almost the same as those it charges on land.
